The History of Women's Place
The Women's Place Resource Centre is governed by the Western Area Women's Coalition (WAWC). On September 1, 1991 a group of women known as the ACCORD Women's Committee met at 7 Faye Rd. in Bridgetown and signed the incorporation papers for what then became the Annapolis County Women's Coalition. The ACWC has grown far beyond the geographical borders that guided the work in the early nineties. In July 1999, the ACWC officially became the Western Area Women's Coalition.
The Western Area Women's Coalition advisory board of directors is comprised of up to eight women. The Board of the Coalition meets a minimum of eight times yearly or by special meetings as required. If you are interested in becoming a member of the coalition, request a package by contacting the centre at 902-363-2030.
